He actually knew Michael Jackson. Mainly everyone that spoke yesterday met him and hung out with him at one point or another. It was nothing like the BET Awards where no one knew him except for the Ojays. I don’t know about Queen Latifah knowing him. But I remember reading somewhere that Michael since he grew up and lived in California most of his life and Kobe being the star of the Los Angeles Lakers and moving out there since he was 17 talked to each other. I was really hoping that Kobe talked about his story of Michael. If you watch basketball then you would know that Kobe is regarded mainly for his work ethic and is considered the most hardest working basketball player in the NBA. That all he thinks and talk about is basketball. So Michael and him used to have conversations on the phone and he told Kobe that it is okay to be different it is okay to be in love with you craft and to work hard at what you love to do. He used to tell Kobe this all the time. And Kobe used to go to his house and watch old movies with him as well and Michael gave him books to read. And when Michael Jackson was told that Kobe was getting married he offered Neverland Ranch as the place. But Kobe had turned him down because they had wanted to get married in a church. But yeah he was friends with him.
And he was reading off of a teleprompter about the charitable causes which is good because a lot of people do not know that he was charitable. But I think that the program did not have time for his story because Magic Johnson was the one that told his story instead.
